Seed Treatments

Seed treatments are not the remedy to all problems and should be used in conjunctions with crop rotation, effective weed control and other agronomic practices to chase high grain corn and silage corn yields. Ultimately seed treatments protect your seed investment during the critical early developmental stages.

As seed selection is a critical decision for farmers, seed companies participate in agronomy and hybrid/variety trials to provide insight to farmers about how their products perform in numerous locations. Once harvest results are released, farmers can use this data to help make their decisions for next year.
Harvest timing:
• It is best to chop when whole plant moisture is between 60 and 70%
• Ensure you are harvesting each variety separately
• Weigh each hybrid immediately after it’s been harvested
Corn silaging season is quickly approaching in the Canadian Prairies. As this is a busy time for farmers and retails, below are a few quick tips to consider when cutting your corn silage crop. Tips #1: Harvest at the correct moisture • Ideal whole plant moisture for harvest: 62-68% moisture (38-32% dry matter). • 62-68% moisture range
Selecting the correct hybrid for silage is one of the most important management decisions for silage programs. The following criteria help growers select the correct hybrids for maximum corn silage production....

Soil Fertility

PRIDE Seeds Market Development Agronomist Neil McGregor discusses what you need to think about when it comes to nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium. He also explains why it's important to test your soil every few years or so.
PRIDE Seeds Market Development Agronomist Sara Meidlinger discusses the differences between EDF (Effective Digestible Fibre) and EDP (Effective Dual Purpose) silage hybrids. It's important to know the differences between these types of silage hybrids in terms of digestibility, palatability and harvest window.
